Actor John Lithgow, who has appeared in a wide range of projects over the years including (among many other things) the movie The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension and the TV show 3rd Rock from the Sun, will be reading from his memoir Drama: An Actor’s Education at the First Parish Church in Cambridge, MA on September 30th at 7:00pm. A free advance screening of the premiere episode of “Torchwood: Miracle Day” (which will normally air on Starz) will be held at the Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge, MA July 6th from 6:00-8:00pm. Note that the website says “Please note that seating is limited by capacity. No RSVP or ticket is required as seating is first come, first served. This screening is rated TV-14 and contains mature content. Must be 14 or older to attend.” There will be screenings in other cities as well, but this is the only one in New England. The National Heritage Museum in Lexington, MA will host the exhibit “Jim Henson’s Fantastic World” from April 3 through June 27, 2010. The show, organized by the Smithsonian Institution, The Jim Henson Legacy, and The Biography Channel, celebrates the life of Muppets creator Jim Henson and features work from throughout his career:
The exhibition features 100 original artworks, including drawings, cartoons and storyboards that illustrate Henson’s talent as a storyteller and visionary. Among the variety of exhibition objects are puppets and television and movie props, photographs of Henson and his collaborators at work and original video productions, including excerpts from Henson’s early career and experimental films.
