Convention Clash: Easter Weekend 2012 Gets Crowded

Do you love both anime and gaming? Well, you may have to make a choice next year, because the word is that both Anime Boston 2012 and PAX East 2012 will be taking place the same weekend, April 6-8; this is also Easter weekend. According to the Massachusetts Convention Authority’s calendar at http://www.mccahome.com/events.html, Anime Boston will be at the Hynes Convention Center, and PAX East will be at the Boston Convention and Expo Center. Despite people’s suspicions, officials from both conventions have stated that the conflict is a matter of availability and logistics, and is not an attempt by PAX East to squash Anime Boston. The Easter Bunny has not been available for comment.

UPDATE: Wizard blinked. Big Apple Comic Con is now scheduled for October 1-3; New York Comic Con gets to keep October 8-10.

Here’s a weird story: it seems that Wizard’s Big Apple Comic Con has been scheduled for October 7th-10th, 2010, while the New York Comic Con (run by different people entirely) is scheduled for October 8th-10th. Two major conventions going after the same people on the same weekend in the same city! It could be good for fans if the cons end up competing to offer the best deals, or it could result in total disaster for everyone. It will be interesting to see how this works out.
