Pop Culture Conference 2014: American Horror

The College of St. Joseph in Rutland, VT, is hosting its Third Annual Popular Culture Conference, “American Horror from the Great Depression to the Great Recession.” On April 11th there will be a meet-and-greet dinner; on the 12th there will be three panel sessions discussing various aspects of the horror genre. Dark Mountain State Reading

Geek Mountain State and Quarterstaff Games are hosting Dark Mountain State, an event which “will look to the darker side of fantasy and horror fiction from local authors as the daylight hours grow short in New England.” Authors include Travis R. Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival 2013

The Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival returns to the Providence area October 17th-20th.

PROVIDENCE, RI. This October 17-20th, 2013, the FLICKERS: RI International Horror Film Festival will screen some of the world’s greatest independent fright films. Films presented will be from across the globe and represent a broad range of cinematic styles and approaches to the genre. Our program director is Shawn Quirk.

The FLICKERS: RI International Horror Film Festival is an eerie-sistable salute to an often overlooked genre that will include numerous world premieres of shorts and features including the best of films submitted in competition from all over the globe. We guarantee that you will not see anything like them anywhere else. Plus, many of the filmmakers will be in attendance, so you’ll have a chance to network, ask questions and maybe even audition for their next film.

To add to the fun, the Festival, much like a witch’s brew, will consist of various ingredients such as an H.P. Lovecraft Walking Tour, special free screenings, a Saturday night double bill with a special presentation, awards for Best Feature and Best Short and much more.
